Managing Your AFI Grant > Official AFI Grant Documents

"Official AFI documents help get the grantee started on its project and act as resources throughout the 5-year grant period."

Official AFI Grant Documents

When the Office of Community Services (OCS) awards a new AFI grant, it sends three official documents to help the grantee get started:

  • Official Award Letter – A transmittal letter signed by the Director of OCS. The letter provides names and contact information for staff who support AFI grantees within OCS and the Office of Grants Management.
  • Grants Policy Statement – This document establishes policies for grantees under a variety of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services programs. The AFI Resource Center encourages grantees to become familiar with the requirements found in Part II of the document, which covers HHS-wide terms and conditions for grants, including the requirement to acknowledge Federal funding in grantee and subgrantee publications.
  • Special Terms and Conditions – Special terms and conditions for AFI grants that vary with each cycle of AFI grants awarded.
  • Notice of Award (NoA) – A two-page document that conveys fundamental information such as the grant number, award amount, project and grant periods, and so forth. Note that the NoA is sometimes referred to as the Financial Assistance Award (FAA) and that Financial Assistance Award may appear as a title on your NoA.
